Sphamandla Mthethwa started his Coaching Career in KZN, Richard S’Bay in a small township Called Enseleni.To became a Coach,He was influenced and inspired by his former teammates and mentor Danger Sbiya,who sometimes used to come late because of work.So as a Captain and a leader had to prepared warm Up sessions while waiting for the Coach to arrived from work.He was pleased concerning his teammates because they shown Dedication and Willingness to learn from him and that situation pushed him to do more, and his Mentor also helped him alot.When he grew up regarding his ambitions if it happens to make it into pro set Said he believes alot in Development,so firstly he will create a very strong development set up that will produce Coaches and Players.The Challenges he faced since started Coaching football is Social Aspect to their development players that most of them are failing to copy with.Personally for him the Challenges are that sometimes, it’s difficult to get access to some Coaching Courses.The Lessons he picked up during his football Journey,He learned that you need to humble yourself and football is not an event but a process and it takes more time according to him is 24hrs job.We asked him what changes would like to see happening in South African Football Development Replied “He will like to see all Provinces having their School Of Excellence, also bring back School Leagues and Tournaments.The Prestige Academy Coach his favourite football Coach is Marcelo Bielsa and Dan Malisela, because both are knowledgeable Coaches,He likes their teams play and they have clear Philosophy, and their style of play is unique can easily identify their teams.Coach Sphamandla s’ best Mentors in football are Sir Alex Ferguson and Danger Sbiya, because both they create good environment for all the players, and they make them feel important also they have good Personality and Strong Character.Coaching Prestige Academy Under 19 Team ,it’s an honour and privilege for him, Explained ” To coach institution like Prestige,it’s a place help players and coaches to grow and he thank the people layed the foundation.To have an opportunity to Coach Prestige ,For Coach Sphamandla it means alot and insisted you must have a good character, dedication, and able to handle the pressure and willing to Learn all the time.In 3 years time Coach Sphamandla planning to do CAF B and Develop and Produce more players.The other thing he is keen to attend workshops.Prestige Academy Under 19 campaigning in Gauteng Development League (GDL),Coach Sphamandla described the league by saying the standard and intensity is very high.Teams are very Competitive and Organized, Highlighted” it’s a good league for the growth of young players and coaches.For the league he learned the important of mental aspect, Stated ” you need players who believes in themselves.Speaking about his Division under 19,he was having good bunch of players with good characters always willing to Learn also he learned a lot from them.They finished position 8 on the log standing, also they have few players on Assessments regarding DDC Teams,Some signed with Abc Motsepe Teams and he sees a lot of maturity on them.Telling us about his football Journey Said ” his football Journey is quite interesting is happy but also is working very hard for another better offers that will grow him as a Coach and Person.Hinted football is been so good to him with the Challenges he faced.He wants to see himself working in PSL for Development Teams set up and growing, and get more knowledge by assisting DDC ,he can even work outside the Country.Since started Coaching football he won Steven Pienaar Tournament,Jowest Ligue Champions,GDL Stream B Championship, Prestige Coach Of The Year 2019, Prestige Coach Of The Month October 2023.Words for his Supporters back home,He wants to thank them with their Support and he promised that he will make them proud.His Advise for upcoming youngsters, they need to be patient, humble and work hard.Coach Sphamandla s’ thoughts regarding the online publication, Said “it’s a very good platform that gives exposure especially to the upcoming Athletes and Coaches.
