After Bidvest Wits was sold Owethu decided to came back to his home City Mpumalanga to further his Studies at University Of Mpumalanga.Besides his studies ,he played for Regional teams Such as Mbombela Saints and Easthigh Academy ,also he managed to help TS Sporting Academy to Qualified For LFA play offs for 2022/23 . Currently playing for Chillies Sports Academy managed by Coach Mahobe.He came on as Sub against Happy Stars and Scored Spectacular equaliser.
